Things I would have known if I had read the manual: Fat bike tires do not grip on ice unless they have studs.

To stay fit this winter I decided to commute to work on my bike. My office doesn’t have a shower. My boss hung one of those tree air fresheners in my cube. Turns out they come in life-size.

2020 is so weird. Last weekend I went running at DuPont State Forrest and three guys carrying a monolith ran past me on the trail.

I tried making homemade weightlifting equipment but nothing I came up with worked very well. Finally, I just started doing 10 pushups every time I opened the refrigerator.

My favorite portion of the article covered wiping and used the phrase “use vegetation that you can confidently identify.” Not a word about frostbite or snow from a 30-foot-tall pine tree inundating your jumper.

I watch action movies on the bike trainer and pedal hard during the fight scenes and car chases. On recovery days, I watch nature documentaries and spin easy. I call it my Fast and Furious/slow and curious training plan.

I was going to order some stretch bands for dryland swimming workouts but I discovered that I can get the same workout by spreading a bit of peanut butter on my dog’s tug toy. I just have to remember to keep the garage door closed to avoid inadvertent squirrel-related shoulder injuries.

This year I’m trying to make a fashion statement with my trail running kit. I’m aiming for that middle ground somewhere between Apolo Ohno and Grizzly Adams.
